Dome Property

The map below shows the bedrock geology and the location of the claims in relation to the Municipality of Red Lake and the surrounding projects, including known gold “showings”, the McKee showing being on the Dome property, and current and past producing mines.

Local Geology
The oldest assemblage of rocks in the Red Lake area is the Balmer assemblage (2860-2840 Ma), which is generally comprised of primarily massive tholeiitic basalts with minor felsic volcaniclastic rocks and metasedimentary rocks (Stott and Corfu, 1991). This assemblage is unconformably overlain by the younger Confederation assemblage (2742-2732 Ma), which generally is comprised of intermediate pyroclastics with minor rhyolitic flows and tuffs built on a sequence of mafic to intermediate pillowed flows (Stott and Corfu, 1991). Outcrop exposure becomes diminished eastward as the blanket of glacial overburden increases and topography flattens; best exposures are found on lakeshores and riverbanks.
Although contiguous, the property is divided between a northwestern, predominantly water based block of claims, and a southeastern, predominantly land based block of claims.

 


The following map shows that the northwestern block of claims is at the confluence of the Flat Lake – Howey Bay and the Chukuni River deformation zones, and that both zones contain a fault. The Corporation intends, when the conditions are right which essentially means when the lake is frozen, to explore this area using some form of deep penetrating geophysical technology to possibly locate some geophysical anomalies with a view to identifying targets for further consideration including drilling.



Exploration of the southeastern block of claims, which abut the Chukuni River deformation zone, began in June 2010 with a high resolution DC resistivity and Induced Polarization (IP) surface survey on the south-eastern block of the Property in June and July 2010. The survey used the Earthprobe technology and included 7 north-south lines, 4 east-west lines, 2 SW to NE lines and 2 short lines from NW to SE. The electrode separation used was 4.4 m. and the survey data covered a total of 14.7 line kilometres. The objective of the survey was to identify deeper (up to 250 m) drill targets within the south-eastern block of the Dome Property.

Following interpretation of the data pseudo-sections, with the help of 2D inversion, a total of 23 targets were compiled and prioritized. All targets were assigned a confidence ranking of I, II and III according to their signal strength, inversion sensitivity analysis, and inversion predicted data. Of the targets, 5 were classified as I, 13 were classified as II, and 5 were classified as III. The criteria for target selection are resistivity low and chargeability high due to the disseminated sulphide association of the regional gold bearing formations.

The Corporation is mobilizing a 1,500 metre diamond drilling program to further delineate the geologic potential of the area. Subject to the availability of a drilling contractor, the Corporation expects to be in a position to commence this activity this winter.

Location and Description
The Dome Property is located in the Red Lake mining camp (Figure 4-1), approximately 2-5 km east, northeast and north of Red Lake and 5 km south of Balmertown, Ontario (Figure 4-2). The Property is geographically centered at approximately 51°1’1.1” N and 93°47’2.8” W (445000E, 5652000N – NAD83, Zone 15), within the National Topographic System (NTS) map sheet 52N/14, Red Lake area. The Property consists of 16 unpatented single and multiple unit mining claims covering 608 hectares, located in Dome, Byshe and Heyson townships (Table 4-1, Figure 4-2).

All claims are currently in good standing. The property boundaries were located using hand held GPS units.

According to the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry’s Mineral Deposit Inventory database (www.mndm.gov.on.ca/mines/ogs/) there are three mineral showings on the Dome Property. The McKee North and South showings are located on claims 4200380 and 4224887 respectively and the Labow Vein is located on claim 1234522.

A large part of the Property overlies a quartz diorite intrusion, the Howey diorite. Howey diorite hosts several past-producing gold mines and numerous gold occurrences. Most of the gold in the Red Lake Camp is spatially associated with the unconformity between Balmer assemblage (mostly volcanic rocks) and the younger Confederation assemblage (mostly meta-sedimentary rocks). This unconformity is inferred to occur in the north western part of the claim group.

A large amount of historic exploration data exists on the Dome Property, the most recent being an Induced Polarization (“IP”) survey completed in 2007. The depth extent of this survey was 50 m. This survey delineated an anomalous area but no follow-up drilling has been completed.

A new IP survey totaling 14.7 line kilometres was completed on the Property in June and July 2010. The current survey penetrated to a depth of 200 m. Final results of this survey are not yet available however, preliminary pseudo sections indicate several areas of low resistivity in the survey area.

The Corporation and Sphere commissioned a National Instrument 43-101 compliant technical report to provide a summary of scientific and technical data on the Property and to make recommendations concerning future exploration, thereby helping the parties make informed decisions.  The technical report was prepared by Caracle Creek International Consulting Inc. June 2010 - NI43101

CCIC concluded that the Property warrants further exploration and recommended that a soil gas hydrocarbon (SGH) survey be completed in the southern part of the Property in order to rank the potential IP anomalies. Contingent on the results of the deep IP and SGH surveys, a diamond drilling program is recommended to test these targets. Furthermore, CCIC concluded that the claims on water in the northern part of the Property have potential based on the historic exploration completed in this area. CCIC recommends exploring the northern claims with modern exploration techniques.

September 2010

Based upon its review of the results of the 2010 IP survey on the south eastern block of claims, CCIC changed its recommendations to suggest that that two of the IP anomalies delineated be tested by diamond drilling. CCIC concluded that the property warrants further exploration and recommended that two of the IP anomalies delineated during the 2010 IP survey on the south eastern block of claims be tested by diamond drilling. It suggested that the two strongest anomalies should be tested with five holes each where each hole should be 150 m deep. The total minimum amount of recommended drilling is therefore 1,500 m. Further, CCIC recommended that a Titan 24 induced polarization/resistivity and magnetotellurics survey be completed on the north western claim block on Red Lake. Titan 24 is a deep penetrating survey capable of detecting gold mineralization and structures to a depth of up to ~700 m. To cover the northern claim block, CCIC recommends that the Titan 24 survey consist of four lines of 3 km each.
